Phil lives in London and works as a writer for The Wombles children’s TV show and book series. His novel Cows Can’t Jump was awarded the Spotlight First Novel Prize. His short fiction has been published in the UK, US and Canada. He's also worked as a travel writer for Lonely Planet and The Guardian.

In 2016 he volunteered in the Calais ‘jungle’ refugee camp, which inspired Billy's meeting with a group of refugees in Cows Can't Jump.
